It all started one day when we met these wonderful people from Massachusetts named Mehdi and Hawdi. Have you ever met somebody for the first time and knew that you would end up friends? That's how it was with them. We liked them right from the start.
Well one day we were all fishing, some of us catching, some of us not. We will not name names. While we were fishing we started talking about eating raw fish, that's how the subject of sushi came up. Mehdi told us that he knew how to make some good sushi and that he would make us some. After he told us that we had a goal, catch a fish! If we were going to eat raw fish we wanted it to be fresh. How much fresher can you get? From the river to the belly! A fish was caught, and now it was time to prepare for sushi!
While Hawdi went to the store to get a few more ingredients (including an awesome key lime pie), Mehdi started preparing the sushi. Making sushi is no easy feat— traditional sushi chefs undergo years of training. However, Mehdi has this art perfected. It was really neat watching him do this. Almost like watching an artist paint. Watching him do this made the fear of eating raw fish almost disappear.
Finally, the sushi was done! There it was, sitting on the table, looking so perfect and pretty. It was time! Time to eat RAW FISH! As I popped the sushi in my mouth, for a slight second I briefly imagined the Coroner examining my body and declaring my cause of death, "Eating raw fish." To my surprise that thought immediately went away as I was enjoying the taste of it. It was absolutely delicious! There was not a bite left when we all got done!
This was truly a great experience. We really enjoyed the sushi but we mostly enjoyed the company. Thank you so much Medhi and Hawdi for a great evening, great company and for the super delicious sushi! You guys are awesome and we can't wait to do it again!
Here's a little cheat sheet for you on how to use chopsticks.
‘So what’s this wasabi and soy sauce for anyway?’ you might ask? Well, what you do when eating sushi, is pick up a piece os sushi with your chopsticks and dip it into the soy sauce, then you pop it into your mouth and eat it. Yummy!
